I love House of Heroes. Timeless music, every time. I love B-side albums. Timeless music, every time. House of Heroes and B-side albums are the most timeless of all.
I actually had no inkling of this release until it released, and I’ve been sitting around wondering how I missed it. It’s exciting, as B-sides and secret tracks always are. Image may be NSFW.

I actually wasn’t too fond of the first five tracks. I knew “Galveston” was on the album and I was excited about that one for sure. Now, the way this album ended up working was they took all of the bonus tracks and special singles and grouped them into one big, happy album. So I knew a few of the songs from there. An example was their Beatles covers.
There were three new songs on the album, “Choose Your Blade,” “Hide,” and “Your Casualty.” “Hide” was one of the most different sounds for HoH I’ve heard. And that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It all depends on preference.
I was also surprised to see the two remixes at the end of the album. Solomon Olds (Soul Glow Activator of Family Force 5) mixed the song “Remember the Empire.” The other remix was almost unrecognizable, for “Suspect.” Both songs were from Cold Hard Want.
In the end, The Knock-Down Drag-Outs is definitely a good addition for a House of Heroes fan who wants a taste of House of Heroes, but it still only scratches the surface of their musical genius.
