So, this album made Number 10 in my Most Anticipated Albums of 2013. I was really excited for this album! It was a surprise for me to find out that Fiction Family was finally letting something new out. They let out their first album, entitled Fiction Family, four years ago. Late last year, they let out a Noisetrade download entitled The Holiday EP, which I readily downloaded and enjoyed immensely.

I wasn’t shocked at all to see two of the tracks from the EP on this ten track album. “Up Against the Wall” was actually my favorite song from the EP, so I was glad to see it had made the album.

Fiction Family is probably classified as folk music, due to their heavy use of acoustic guitar, but on the song “Give Me Back My Girl,” there’s a heavier drum that starts it off.

As with Capital Light’s album Rhythm’ N’ Moves, I was slightly disappointed to see that the majority of this album was focused on guy/girl relationships. One of the things I look for in an album is originality, and I don’t believe that I can truthfully say that this album was the most original.

That being said, I did enjoy listening to the album, but I think Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins could’ve done a little bit more to distinguish themselves from the majority of indie music that has been released these days.
