Let’s be honest: I’ve been waiting for this album for a while. NEEDTOBREATHE is one of those bands you listen to when you need a break. A soft, country-rock sound-check. Gritty vocals-check. I feel like I could gush about NEEDTOBREATHE, but I’ll save it.
With three years between Rivers In The Wasteland and their last album, The Reckoning, I was in need of some new NEEDTOBREATHE. They didn’t disappoint me. The sound of their latest is consistent with their others, and that’s something I tend to lean towards when I’m looking for a new a band to listen to.
The first song, “Wasteland” is a perfect opener. While slightly subdued musically, the lyrics are powerful enough to give it the punch it needs to start off the album well. A bit of a choral introduction in the next song was unexpected, but definitely a nice touch. The opening notes of the songs on this album was one of my favorite elements.
My favorite tracks from the album were “Feet, Don’t Fail Me Now”, “Oh, Carolina”, and “The Heart”. I felt like the album was a very strong offering from NEEDTOBREATHE, and I can’t wait to play it all summer long.
