The Wedding

So, this album was actually released on September 25, of 2012. I didn’t get to it then, but I was looking forward to hearing this release from The Wedding. Another member of the Tooth&Nail family, The Wedding has changed labels with each full-length album in their decade-long past. They have three full-length albums: The Wedding (2005), Polarity (2007), and, most recently, No Direction.

If put into a specific genre, The Wedding would fit nowhere. They’re punk in some songs, metal-like in others. Their spectrum is quite broad. I like their sound in some songs, would prefer a bit of a difference in others, but I would venture to say that this album is one of the best I’ve heard from the genre this year. And I’ve heard a lot of great albums.

The album starts off strongly with the title track, and first single, “No Direction.” It was a personal favorite from the album. My other favorites were definitely “The Raconteur,” and “Hang On Love.” In actuality, if I were to name all my favorites from the album, you would basically have a complete track listing.

As you can see, I thought the album was strong. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a fresh dose of rock for the new year.
